ABS and JB Energy partner on Brazil floating wind project
ABS and JB Energy have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to conduct strategic studies for the Aura Sul Wind Project, a proposed floating offshore wind pilot in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
The collaboration focuses on two primary areas: emissions reduction at the Port of Rio Grande and the development of a preliminary decommissioning strategy for JB Energy’s Raijin Float platform, which is a concrete-based, semi-submersible floating wind foundation.
Studies regarding the Port of Rio Grande will investigate electrification, renewable energy integration, low-carbon logistics, and clean fuel infrastructure. Additionally, the partnership will examine the lifecycle of the Raijin Float platform, including removal concepts, towing, dismantling, port logistics, and opportunities for recycling and reuse.
