Absa Asset Management Gains CMA Approval for Two New Global Multi-Asset Funds
Absa Asset Management Limited, the asset‑management arm of Absa Bank Kenya, has been granted approval by Kenya’s Capital Markets Authority (CMA) to register two new special funds under the Absa Unit Trust Scheme. The approved products are the Absa Global Multi‑Asset Special Fund (USD) and the Absa Global Multi‑Asset Special Fund (KES). Both funds will provide investors with professionally managed exposure to a range of global asset classes, aiming to diversify portfolios and meet varying risk appetites.
The CMA confirmed the funds meet the Capital Markets (Collective Investment Schemes) Regulations 2023. Elizabeth Irungu, Head of Absa Asset Management, said the approval “reflects the company’s commitment to developing investment solutions that meet the evolving needs of investors.” The launch comes as special funds now account for 23.9% of Kenya’s collective‑investment‑schemes market, with assets under management reaching KSh 203.5 billion as of March 2026, and Absa’s asset‑management business has grown 28% since its inception.
