Absa Bank Ghana headquarters receives EDGE Advanced certification

Absa Bank Ghana Ltd’s new headquarters, Absa Place, located in Accra, has achieved the EDGE Advanced certification from the International Finance Corporation (IFC). This certification recognizes the building for its high standards in energy and water efficiency, as well as the reduced embodied carbon of its construction materials.

According to Dr. Edward Nartey Botchway, Managing Director of Absa Bank Ghana Ltd, the certification validates the bank’s commitment to long-term operational efficiency and responsible investment. The EDGE Advanced system assesses resource efficiency against conventional building baselines, representing a higher tier of sustainability than standard EDGE certification.

Deo Onyango, the IFC’s Principal Country Officer for Ghana, stated that the achievement demonstrates how sustainability can drive competitiveness and long-term value creation, setting a benchmark for green buildings in Ghana and resource-efficient urban growth across Africa.
