Abu Dhabi court orders husband to pay AED 50,000 to wife after assault

The Al Dhafra Court of First Instance in Abu Dhabi has ordered a man to pay AED 50,000 in compensation to his wife following a physical assault during a marital dispute.

The victim suffered significant injuries, including a deep cut to her tongue, fractures to her upper front teeth, and bruising on her shoulder. The assault occurred after a verbal argument when the husband entered her room and struck her face and body.

The civil ruling follows a prior criminal conviction where the husband received a two-month suspended jail term and a AED 10,000 fine. While the wife initially sought AED 100,000 for material, moral, and cosmetic damages, the court determined the compensation amount based on the established facts of the case. The court noted that the final criminal judgment served as conclusive proof of the assault and the husband's liability.
