Abu Dhabi extends business licenses and real estate compliance deadlines
Abu Dhabi authorities have announced several regulatory extensions aimed at supporting entrepreneurs and the real estate sector. The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has extended the period for Tajer Abu Dhabi license holders to operate without physical premises by one additional year. This extension applies to those whose current grace period expires during 2026, intended to reduce startup costs and ease the process of doing business.
Additionally, the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has extended the application deadline for Building Occupancy Certificates from September 16, 2026, to November 30, 2026. This grace period allows building owners and real estate operators more time to complete compliance procedures, including structural stability assessments and safety clearances from Civil Defence and fire safety authorities.
Further measures include extending the validity of new industrial licenses, known as Rowad, from two to three years before construction begins, and extending licenses under construction from three to four years until production starts.
