Abu Dhabi introduces new wildlife and habitat protection rules
Abu Dhabi has introduced new legislation aimed at protecting the emirate’s wildlife and natural habitats. Issued by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the resolution establishes a framework for conservation that extends across both terrestrial and marine environments, including areas outside of officially designated nature reserves.
The measures apply to native and migratory species identified by the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD). The resolution also includes provisions for the recovery of habitats and species that have already been impacted, seeking to manage human activity and protect the diverse ecosystems found in the region’s deserts, coastlines, and wetlands.
