Abu Dhabi launches school sports championship for 350+ schools

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, has launched the Abu Dhabi Sports Championship for Schools. The initiative aims to provide students across the emirate with regular opportunities to compete, build resilience, and develop athletic potential.

More than 350 schools will participate in 19 different sporting disciplines throughout the academic year. Competitions will be held across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra. The program features two primary formats: the Elite League, which offers weekly competitions for under-17 and under-19 students in sports such as football, basketball, volleyball, padel, athletics, jiu-jitsu, and swimming; and a Tournament Format for students aged nine to 19.

Other sports included in the championship are badminton, chess, cycling, fencing, archery, judo, table tennis, taekwondo, wrestling, rugby, laser run, and Obstacle Course Racing (OCR).
