Abu Dhabi leaders emphasize practical AI deployment in research and energy

At the AI Everything Abu Dhabi 2026 event, Dr. Mohamed Alkhemairi, Chief Business Development Officer at ASPIRE, emphasized that successful artificial intelligence innovation must be driven by real-world operational challenges rather than simply seeking applications for existing research. Alkhemairi noted that for ASPIRE, the technology development arm of Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council, the focus is on identifying industry pain points and ensuring that technologies are designed for commercialization and scalability from the outset.

In the energy sector, the focus is similarly shifting toward the practical implementation of digital tools. Ahead of the ADIPEC 2026 conference, ADNOC executive Haitham Al Jenaib stated that the industry has moved past debating the necessity of digitization and is now concentrating on where and how to deploy and scale artificial intelligence. The upcoming ADIPEC conference expects significant global participation, covering themes such as energy security, infrastructure, and advanced technologies to meet rising global energy demands.
