Mahrah Al Nahyan sentenced for child neglect in London
Mahrah Al Nahyan, a 32-year-old member of the Abu Dhabi ruling family by marriage, has been sentenced at Southwark Crown Court following a child neglect charge. The sentencing follows an incident in June where Al Nahyan was found unconscious on a street in West London after cocaine use.
During the incident, a three-year-old child in her care was left unattended and barefoot, wandering dangerously close to moving traffic. Passers-by intervened to protect the toddler before alerting authorities. When Al Nahyan regained consciousness, she reportedly reacted aggressively toward those who had assisted.
Al Nahyan pleaded guilty to one count of child neglect. The court imposed a two-year community order with a mandatory requirement for rehabilitation. She was also ordered to pay a £5,000 fine and £1,000 in prosecution costs. Her defense stated she has since entered treatment at the Priory clinic in Woking to overcome her addiction.
