Abu Dhabi to launch free music academy for youth
The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has announced the establishment of a dedicated institution for the Youth Orchestra Abu Dhabi. Scheduled to open in January 2027 in the Mina Zayed (MiZa) district, the facility will be designed by the late architect Frank Gehry.
The institution will feature a 600-seat concert hall and 18 rehearsal and practice rooms, providing professional-standard environments for young musicians. The program offers free access to world-class music education, covering both Western classical and Arabic musical traditions.
Enrollment is currently open for the first cohort of 100 students, aged 6 to 9. As the program evolves, additional ensembles for advanced students will be introduced during the first year to create long-term developmental pathways for aspiring talent in the emirate.
