Abubakr Ahmed jailed for six years over Yorkshire drug operation

Abubakr Ahmed, 23, has been sentenced to six years in prison for operating a significant county lines drug operation known as the ‘Khanny line’. The operation supplied heroin and crack cocaine between West Yorkshire and North Yorkshire, with an estimated street value of £223,380.

An investigation by West Yorkshire Police’s specialist taskforce, Operation Phoenix, identified that the line supplied 2.23kg of Class A drugs between February 11 and June 11 of this year. Evidence presented at Bradford Crown Court showed the operation sent thousands of bulk messages advertising drugs over a 13-week period.

Following a warrant executed at Ahmed’s home in Keighley, officers recovered multiple mobile phones, large quantities of heroin, cocaine, cash, and drug packaging. Police also seized a prohibited knuckle duster stun gun. While Ahmed claimed he became involved due to personal drug debts and threats of violence, Judge Ahmed Nadim rejected his testimony, describing him as an ‘unreliable witness’.

Ahmed was convicted of multiple offences, including being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs, possession with intent to supply, possession of criminal property, and possession of an electrical incapacitation device.
