Abuja Archbishop Kaigama urges faith, integrity as lasting legacy at Requiem Mass

Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama of Abuja said the greatest legacy parents can leave is not material wealth but values of faith, integrity and the fear of God. He made the remarks during a Requiem Mass for the late Chief Ezinne Christiana Opara at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Maitama, Abuja.

Ezinne Opara, who died at age 83, was the mother of Professor John Kennedy Opara, the pioneer Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) and chairman of CSS Group of Companies. Kaigama praised Prof. Opara’s service under four Nigerian presidents and his current work in agricultural development. He urged leaders across all sectors to serve humanity with humility, noting the transience of human existence.

Bishop Stephen Adegbite, the incumbent NCPC Executive Secretary, also spoke, highlighting Opara’s contributions to the commission. The ceremony was attended by political and religious dignitaries, including Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang.
