Abuja court remands man for allegedly threatening Kano Governor
A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of Sanusi Dankaka at the Kuje Correctional Centre. The order was issued by Justice Salim Ibrahim following Dankaka’s arraignment by the Department of State Services (DSS) on two counts of cybercrime.
Dankaka is accused of using a Facebook account to claim possession of nude videos and photographs of Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf and threatening to release them to the public. The DSS alleges these claims are false and were intended to cause annoyance, insult, and injury to the governor.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges, which fall under the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Act of 2015. The case has been adjourned until December 7 for trial.
