Abuja infrastructure and sanitation projects ease traffic congestion
Infrastructure and sanitation improvements in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are providing relief to motorists and residents in Abuja. In Zuba, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has begun evacuating a large refuse heap that had been obstructing the federal highway and causing traffic gridlock. This sanitation exercise is part of a two-year contract awarded by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to manage refuse evacuation and clear drainages across six area councils.
In the Karu corridor, a completed 15-kilometre road project executed by Abdul-Val Nigeria Limited has also yielded significant benefits. The project, which spans from the Karu Interchange on the Abuja-Keffi Expressway to Customs Clinic Junction, has reportedly eased traffic congestion, improved drainage to reduce flooding, and boosted local business activities. Residents and commuters noted that the improved road conditions have reduced travel times and enhanced ease of movement throughout the area.
