Abuja Police arrest suspect using forged ‘Presidency’ number plate

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a man in Abuja for allegedly using a Lexus LX570 SUV equipped with a concealed number plate inscribed with ‘PRESIDENCY’. The vehicle was intercepted in the Maitama District on the evening of October 20, 2026.

According to police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh, the concealed plate carried the registration number 10B218 FG. While the suspect claimed to be the legitimate holder of the plate, investigators determined that the supporting vehicle registration documents were forged. The suspect is also accused of impersonating a permanent secretary attached to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).

The police have taken both the vehicle and the occupant into custody. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities stated the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the probe. This incident follows recent warnings from the FCT Police Command against the use of unauthorized, unlicensed, or concealed vehicle plates in the capital.
