Abuja residents urge AEDC to address persistent power outages

Residents and business owners in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are calling on the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to address persistent power outages. Communities including Kubwa, Dutse, and Dei-Dei report receiving electricity for only a few hours each day, with some areas experiencing total blackouts for extended periods.

The lack of reliable power is significantly increasing the cost of doing business. Local artisans, such as welders and fashion designers, have expressed difficulty maintaining productivity as they are forced to rely on expensive petrol-powered generators. Additionally, residents reported that irregular supply has led to the spoilage of food stored in refrigerators.
