Abuja security tightened ahead of Obi-Kwankwaso mega march

Security forces have established a heavy presence at the Abuja City Gate in anticipation of a planned mega march by supporters of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso. The demonstration, organized by supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), aims to demand improved governance in Nigeria.

Multiple agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), have deployed personnel and armored vehicles to the area. Security operatives have erected barricades and conducted stop-and-search operations to maintain order at the strategic entry point to the Federal Capital Territory.

Organizers reported that heavy security presence prevented supporters from gathering at Unity Fountain, prompting the group to regroup at an alternative location. A rally mobilizer stated that the march is intended to be peaceful and is a constitutional exercise to campaign for the NDC candidates rather than an attack on the government.
