Aburi Hana to reopen in Toronto with new dining concept

Michelin-starred Japanese restaurant Aburi Hana is scheduled to reopen in Toronto’s Yorkville district on September 17, 2026. The establishment has been closed since fall 2025 to undergo extensive renovations and a conceptual reimagining.

The new dining concept is inspired by the hanamachi of Edo-era Japan, aiming to blend food, art, and hospitality into a more flexible guest experience. Unlike previous formats, the restaurant will now offer a choice between a seasonal tasting menu and refined à la carte dishes, such as Matcha Shoku Pan and Saffron Tosazu Hamachi. The venue will also feature an expanded beverage program focusing on premium sake, wine, and Japanese-inspired cocktails.

The leadership team includes Culinary Director Aiko Uchigoshi, Head Chef So Sakata, and Beverage Director Troy Gilchrist, operating under Aburi Restaurants Canada President Noriaki Okubo and CEO Seigo Nakamura.
