Abuse allegations in Czech kindergarten and disciplinary actions in Slovak murder case

In the Czech Republic, a private kindergarten in České Budějovice is facing scrutiny following allegations of physical and psychological abuse. Former employees and parents have provided testimonies describing a director, Jaroslava P., who allegedly used physical punishment, such as pulling children by their ears or hair, and locking children in washrooms to cry alone. One former staff member reported being reprimanded for attempting to comfort a child. The director reportedly retired quickly following the investigation into these practices.

In Slovakia, disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against a prosecutor following the murder of a teacher in Gelnice. The case has drawn criticism from General Prosecutor Maroš Žilinka, who noted that the initial investigation into the victim's reports of domestic terror and physical attacks by her husband was mishandled. The investigation failed to properly classify the abuse as a crime of domestic torture. Consequently, the leadership of the District Prosecutor's Office in Spišská Nová Ves has been removed. Additionally, Justice Minister Boris Susko has filed a disciplinary proposal against a judge regarding the handling of information related to the suspect's potential release from custody.
