ABVP protests in Delhi following Satya Niketan building collapse

Following the collapse of a paying guest (PG) building in Satya Niketan, members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) have launched a series of protests across Delhi. Demonstrations took place at the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) headquarters and various Delhi University campuses, including North, South, and Central campuses.

The organization is demanding a high-level, impartial investigation into the incident and is calling for the resignation of the MCD Commissioner. Key demands include mandatory structural and safety audits for all PG accommodations and rental buildings in student-populated areas to ensure compliance with fire safety and construction standards.

Protesters emphasized that the administration must hold building owners and negligent officials accountable. They are also calling for increased availability of university-managed hostels to reduce the reliance on private accommodations that may lack adequate safety oversight.
