Abyan educators receive food aid as new school year begins

In Abyan Governorate, Yemen, the 2026–2027 academic year has officially commenced, marked by the inauguration of classes at the Sarar Yafa High School in the Sarar Yafa district. Local officials, including the Secretary-General of the local council and the Director of the Education Office, attended the morning assembly to encourage students and faculty.

Coinciding with the start of the school year, a humanitarian initiative has launched to distribute food baskets to educators in the region. Supported by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre and implemented by the Yamani Foundation for Development and Humanitarian Work, the project aims to provide over 6,700 food baskets to active teachers across Abyan. The distribution began in the Zinjibar district and is scheduled to expand to Khanfar and other districts to alleviate the living burdens on educational staff.
