Abyan experiences new wave of internal displacement

Abyan Governorate is experiencing an increase in displaced families arriving from Al-Mukha, Taiz, Al-Hudaydah, and Al-Bayda due to the ongoing consequences of war and regional instability.

Sheikh Nasser Abdullah Al-Mansari, director of the Abyan branch of the Executive Unit for IDPs Affairs, stated that the government and the Executive Unit had anticipated this wave of displacement and implemented preparatory measures. The unit is coordinating with local authorities to provide essential needs and shelter in camps and villages.

The Executive Unit has called upon the government and international organizations to increase support for site coordinators and camp officials. There is an urgent plea for international humanitarian agencies to intervene and provide necessary health and psychological services to the arriving families.
