Abyan Governor launches land compensation in Al‑Ilm, Yemen
On Tuesday morning, Governor of Abyan Governorate Dr. Mukhtar al‑Khadir al‑Rabbash inaugurated the first phase of distributing land compensation to citizens holding contracts issued in the early 1990s for four plots in the Al‑Ilm area of Khanafir district, Yemen.
The distribution follows a project overseen by the General Authority for Lands and Planning, Abyan branch, under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Shae' Zandani and directives from the governor. At the ceremony, local council secretary Mahdi al‑Hamed, land‑authority director Ahmed al‑Sharmi, Khanafir director‑general Mazen al‑Yousfi, and Waleed al‑Saadi, chairman of Gulf Arabian Sky Development Company, were present. Al‑Saadi’s firm delivered the four compensation plots to the authority.
Governor al‑Rabbash stressed that the local authority will prioritize citizens over investors, saying, “The local authority today fulfills its promise… we will start with the simple citizen before the investor.” The move aims to resolve a three‑decade‑old dispute and restore property rights for hundreds of families.
