Abyan hosts national agricultural research workshop after decade-long hiatus

A national workshop for agricultural research has commenced at the Al-Kod headquarters in the Khanfar district of Abyan. Sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the event aims to discuss technical reports from various branches of the General Authority for Agricultural Research and Extension.

The workshop marks a significant milestone, as it is the first such gathering in a decade following years of instability and conflict. The event also coincides with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Al-Kod Agricultural Research Center. Participants include researchers, doctors, and technical experts from various liberated governorates, focusing on restoring the role of agricultural research in production, particularly regarding strategic crops like grains.
