Abyan local council officials address education office shortages

Mahdi Mohammed Al-Hamid, Secretary-General of the Local Council in Abyan, chaired an expanded meeting with the leadership and staff of the Abyan General Directorate of Education. The meeting focused on enhancing job performance and addressing the severe lack of administrative infrastructure.

Since the destruction of the main education office building during the 2011 conflict in Zinjibar, staff have been working under difficult conditions, often sharing a single temporary office. To resolve this, Al-Hamid approved the allocation of several administrative offices within the governorate’s old building, which will be opened and furnished to support various departments.

Discussions also emphasized the need to address shortages in educational personnel, redistribute staff based on actual needs, improve workplace discipline, and implement continuous training and qualification programs to elevate educational standards.
