Abyan media officials meet to unify discourse and combat misinformation

Media professionals, journalists, and activists held an extensive consultative meeting in Abyan Governorate under the slogan ‘Abyan First’. Sponsored by Governor Mukhtar bin al-Khadr al-Rabash al-Haythami, the gathering aimed to unify media discourse to support the legitimacy forces and resistance in various combat fronts.

Dr. Yasser Baazab, Director General of the Media Office, emphasized the necessity of setting aside political and partisan disputes to focus on the Houthi threat. The meeting focused on transforming media platforms into tools for psychological and combat support while combating rumors and misinformation.

Key recommendations from the meeting included the establishment of a media operations room and a unified platform for monitoring and proactively countering misleading discourse. Participants also proposed organizing field visits for journalists to combat zones to document events accurately and ensuring that media personnel act as field correspondents relying on official sources.
