Abyan officials survey sites for new solar power plant

Officials in Abyan Governorate have conducted field visits to survey potential sites for a new solar power plant in the Sarr-Yafa district. The technical team, including the Director General of Rural Electricity in Abyan, evaluated several locations, including Al-Mukhaylifah, Al-Mujaza, and Am'tak Qarqar, to assess their technical, spatial, and planning suitability.

The project is supported and funded by the World Bank. It aims to provide a generating capacity of between 3 to 5 megawatts, with the potential for future expansion. Once implemented, the facility is expected to enhance power generation capacity and improve the stability of electricity services within the district by strengthening the local electrical infrastructure.
