Aby's Garden complex destroyed by fire in Dakar

A major fire destroyed the Aby's Garden complex on the Corniche Ouest in Dakar, Senegal, early Sunday morning. The incident caused extensive material damage, including the collapse of the bamboo roofing and the destruction of furniture, decorations, and metal structures. No casualties were reported.

The establishment, a well-known venue for events, dining, and cocktails, was already embroiled in a significant legal dispute between owner Aby Ndour and her associate, Babacar Athie. The ongoing litigation involves allegations of financial mismanagement and large sums of missing funds. While the fire has left the site in ruins, investigators have not yet established a link between the ongoing judicial conflict and the cause of the blaze.
