AC Milan aims to keep Luka Modric as transfer plans change

AC Milan coach Ruben Amorim, appointed earlier this month, has urged veteran midfielder Luka Modric to extend his stay beyond the current contract, saying the Croatian is a “fundamental element” for the club’s project. Amorim said he has spoken to Modric twice and is prepared to negotiate again to keep him for another season at the San Siro.

At the same time, AC Milan’s summer recruitment shifted, and a prospective signing of Real Madrid left‑back Fran García fell through. Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reported that García, whose deal with Betis was completed for €3 million plus bonuses, would likely have joined Milan if the previous management structure had remained.
