AC Milan and Chelsea compete for Barcelona defender Gerard Martin

AC Milan has increased its bid for Barcelona centre‑back Gerard Martin, moving from an initial €20 million offer to as much as €35 million in an effort to strengthen a defence that showed vulnerabilities in a recent 2‑2 draw with Celtic.

Chelsea also expressed strong interest in the Spanish international, but has not yet presented a formal offer. Both clubs remain active in the summer transfer market as they seek to bolster their back lines.
