Mario Gila to miss AC Milan vs Inter friendly in Perth
AC Milan and Inter Milan will face each other in a pre‑season friendly at Optus Stadium in Perth on 5 August, marking the first time the Derby della Madonnina is played in Australia. The match is part of a week‑long Italian football festival that also features Juventus and Palermo.
AC Milan defender Mario Gila will miss the game after a minor strain to his right rectus femoris was diagnosed during a pre‑season test in Glasgow. He is undergoing individual rehabilitation and the club will not risk his return for the derby, coach Ruben Amorim said.
Forward Christian Pulisic and striker Santiago Gimenez remain in Italy receiving treatment for a micro‑fracture of the right fibula and an ankle sprain, respectively. Their fitness for Milan’s season‑opening Serie A match on 23 August will be reassessed after the squad returns from Australia.
