AC Milan appoints Ruben Amorim, breaks record with Gonçalo Ramos signing and targets United defender

Ruben Amorim, appointed head coach of AC Milan in June, has made his first major move by securing Portuguese striker Gonçalo Ramos from Paris Saint‑Germain on a record transfer fee. Ramos signed a contract running to June 2031 and is expected to refresh Milan’s attack after a disappointing 2025‑26 season that left the team out of the Champions League.

Amorim is also reported to be "crazy" about adding a Manchester United defender to Milan’s squad, with contacts already made for either Lisandro Martínez or Gonçalo Inácio. While interest in United midfielder Mason Mount has been floated, the club says there are no plans to sell him. The coach’s early activity signals an aggressive rebuild under his leadership.
