AC Milan appoints Sergio Navarro as coach of Milan Futuro youth side

Sergio Navarro Barquero has been appointed head coach of Milan Futuro, AC Milan’s reserve team, with the explicit goal of preparing young players for promotion to the senior squad. Navarro, a former Villarreal midfielder who helped the club earn promotion to La Liga in 1997‑98, emphasized his focus on developing talent both on and off the pitch.

The new coach will work closely with first‑team manager Paulo Fonseca and senior staff, including Ruben Amorim, who led a tactical training session at Milanello on the same day. A joint training session involving the first team and Milan Futuro is scheduled for tomorrow, followed by an internal friendly match that will not be televised. The clubs are also planning an official friendly against Celtic in Glasgow on 25 July.

Navarro’s mandate is to create a seamless pathway for youth prospects, integrating them into senior‑team preparations and matches.
