AC Milan close on €30 million signing of Lazio defender Mario Gila

AC Milan are in advanced negotiations to acquire Spanish centre‑back Mario Gila from Lazio. The club has agreed personal terms with the 24‑year‑old on a five‑year contract worth €4.5 million per season plus bonuses, and is preparing a transfer fee of around €30 million. Half of the fee will go to Real Madrid due to a sell‑on clause from Gila's earlier move to Lazio.

Lazio President Claudio Lotito has so far rejected Milan’s initial bid, seeking a higher price. The Rossoneri, who have already signed Portuguese striker Gonçalo Ramos, aim to finalise the deal early next week, after outbidding interest from Napoli and Atalanta. The transfer is seen as the first defensive reinforcement for new coach Rubén Amorim, who emphasises depth in the back line.

The move would bring Milan’s summer spending close to €100 million, reflecting an aggressive strategy to strengthen the squad for the Serie A title race.
