AC Milan close in on Lazio defender Mario Gila

AC Milan are in the final stages of negotiations with Lazio for Spanish centre‑back Mario Gila. The club has reportedly offered a base fee of €22 million with bonuses that could take the total to around €30 million, while the player is expected to earn roughly €5 million per season. Milan’s new coach Ruben Amorim, who arrived this summer, has identified strengthening the defence as a priority after the €70 million signing of striker Gonçalo Ramos. The deal is contested by Napoli and Atalanta, who have also shown interest, but Milan are trying to complete the transfer quickly to secure the player before the window closes. Lazio’s asking price reflects a €50 percent sell‑on clause held by Real Madrid, adding complexity to the negotiations. Concurrently, Milan are planning a defensive overhaul that includes the departure of Fikayo Tomori and the targeting of younger prospects such as Victor Valdepeñas. Lazio, anticipating Gila’s exit, are scouting replacements, naming Sergi Domínguez and Diego Coppola as potential signings. The outcome of the Gila transfer will shape Milan’s back‑line for the upcoming season and influence Serie A’s defensive market dynamics.
