AC Milan coach Ruben Amorim cites pressing challenges ahead of season

AC Milan head coach Ruben Amorim said his squad is still learning the high‑pressing system after a 2‑2 pre‑season draw with Celtic in Glasgow. He acknowledged defensive lapses created by the approach and noted the team has less than a month to adapt before the 2026/27 Serie A campaign begins. Amorim will use the upcoming pre‑season tour, which includes matches against Inter Milan in Perth and Chelsea in Jakarta, to evaluate every player.

Winger Samuel Chukwueze, returning from a loan at Fulham, has been named in the touring squad and must impress Amorim to earn a place in the first‑team plan. The squad also features new signing Pervis Estupiñán, defender Fikayo Tomori and other players whose futures remain uncertain, with several linked to possible transfers.

Amorim’s comments highlight the tactical growing pains the Rossoneri face as they seek to reshape their identity while managing individual player prospects ahead of the new season.
