AC Milan commemorates Heysel tragedy as transfer talks swirl for Franco Mastantuono

In March 1990, AC Milan captain Franco Baresi placed 39 red roses under the Z‑curve at Heysel Stadium in Brussels, a symbolic gesture to honour the 39 victims of the 1985 Heysel disaster. Former Milan organiser Paolo Taveggia recalled that the club also arranged a private mass before the match against Mechelen, noting, “We wanted to commemorate the tragedy in some way.”

During the current summer window, AC Milan are evaluating Argentine midfielder Franco Mastantuono. Real Madrid have approved his departure, but Milan prefer a loan with an option to buy, while Fiorentina are also interested, offering a guaranteed starting role. The final decision is linked to the pending sale of striker Rafael Leão.
