AC Milan launches new management structure and secures key players under coach Ruben Amorim
Owner Gerry Cardinale, backed by RedBird Capital, has reshaped AC Milan’s hierarchy, creating an integrated sport‑business model. The board now includes senior advisor Zlatan Ibrahimović, CEO Massimo Calvelli, and a revamped sporting side led by Director of Player Trading Hendrik Almstadt, Director of Football Intelligence Bobby Gardiner and scouting chief Donato Lomonte.
Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim was appointed in mid‑June 2026 on a two‑year deal and arrived in Milan in early July for tests and the pre‑season camp. Amorim has drawn a firm line on the transfer market, declaring that goalkeeper Mike Maignan and midfielder Adrien Rabiot are “non‑negotiable” for the club. He also indicated interest in retaining Luka Modrić and Rafael Leão, with Leão postponing any transfer talks until after the 2026 World Cup.
The reorganisation follows a missed Champions League qualification that cost the club €60‑70 million in revenue, prompting the new leadership to focus on financial sustainability while targeting strategic signings. Cardinale’s recent audience with Pope Leo XIV highlighted an interest in public‑private partnerships for sport. The overall aim is to combine competitive performance with long‑term economic stability.
