AC Milan hires Amorim as head coach

AC Milan has reached an agreement to appoint Portuguese manager Amorim as the club’s new head coach, ending the tenure of Stefano Allegri. The board, including Cardinale, Ibrahimović and Calvelli, confirmed that a two‑year contract with an option for a third year has been negotiated, with a reported salary of about €3 million per year.

Amorim is currently under contract with Manchester United until 2027, so the transfer will require a release from the English club. The alternative candidate, Matthias Jaissle, was also considered but would have cost roughly €6 million to free him from his Al‑Ahli contract. Other potential managers such as Ralf Rangnick, Oliver Glasner and Matthias Jaissle were ruled out due to contractual or demand issues, leaving Amorim as the most viable option.

The appointment is expected to shape Milan’s tactical direction and restore stability after a period of managerial uncertainty.
