AC Milan honors legend Franco Baresi with stadium tribute and commemorative patch

AC Milan has organized a series of tributes to honor the memory of club legend Franco Baresi, who passed away on July 31 after a long illness. During a match at San Siro against Venezia, the stadium held a solemn commemoration featuring a giant number 6 jersey placed at the center of the pitch. Fans participated in a standing ovation at the sixth minute of play, and the Curva Sud displayed a large banner calling the former captain an ‘immortal legend’.

To ensure a lasting tribute, the club announced the ‘6 per sempre’ (6 forever) commemorative patch. This special emblem will be worn on the left sleeve of official jerseys throughout the 2026/27 season. The patch is scheduled to debut on August 22 during a women’s match against Como Women, followed by the men’s first team on August 23 during an away match against Torino. The initiative aims to honor Baresi’s legacy as a symbol of loyalty and leadership, marking the more than 700 matches he played as captain.
