AC Milan launches new technical committee to run player signings

AC Milan's owner Gerry Cardinale has confirmed that the club will not appoint a traditional Head of Football. Instead, a newly formed technical committee will oversee recruitment and transfers. The structure places manager Ruben Amorim at the centre of the transfer process, with him selecting positions to strengthen and forwarding lists to Bobby Gardiner, the Director of Football Intelligence, and chief scout Donato Lomonte.

Negotiations will be handled by Hendrik Almstadt, acting as a director of player trading, while financial decisions rest with Massimo Calvelli, who succeeded former CEO Giorgio Furlani. The committee also includes RedBird associate David Castelblanco and advisers such as Zlatan Ibrahimović, whose opinions are taken seriously by Cardinale. The arrangement mirrors a previous “Liverpool model” experiment in 2023 that ended with the departure of Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara, and has drawn criticism for its lack of on‑pitch experience among senior executives.
