Alexis Saelemaekers faces long-term injury at AC Milan
AC Milan midfielder Alexis Saelemaekers faces a long-term absence following a serious ankle injury. After sustaining a trauma during training, subsequent medical examinations revealed that his right ankle, which underwent surgery in 2024 to treat a medial malleolus fracture, has lost stability in the previously operated area.
Reports indicate that Saelemaekers will likely require new surgery, which could keep him sidelined until 2027. The player expressed his determination on social media, stating he will face the difficult period with “patience, determination and even more desire to get back to doing what I love.”
The injury creates tactical challenges for manager Ruben Amorim, especially as the team faces a dense schedule. The situation is compounded by the unavailability of Pervis Estupiñán, who is also dealing with a knee injury. This has increased the expected playing time for squad members such as Davide Bartesaghi and Diego Moreira.
