Mario Gila joins AC Milan on €30m deal

Spanish centre‑back Mario Gila transferred from Lazio to AC Milan on a five‑year contract worth about €30 million, bonuses included, running until 2031. The move was announced in late June 2024 and is part of Milan’s defensive rebuild under new coach Rubén Amorim.

Gila said he chose Milan because it is "one of the strongest teams in the world" and cited the club’s history and vision as key factors. He pledged to give his all for the Rossoneri, describing his arrival as an "emotional" and "exciting" challenge.

The transfer includes a sell‑on clause that will see Real Madrid receive roughly €15 million from the fee. Gila’s background includes youth training at Real Madrid, senior spells at Lazio with 120 appearances, and experience in Serie A and European competitions.
