AC Mobility expands Philippine EV charging network and safety programs

AC Mobility, the mobility arm of Ayala Corporation, is expanding its electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure in the Philippines, aiming to deploy 1,000 charging points by the end of the year. Currently, the company has established over 500 charging points across more than 230 locations. While the network is the largest in the country—accounting for over 40 percent of stations listed by the Department of Energy—70 percent of these points are concentrated in Metro Manila, with the remaining 30 percent located in Visayas and Mindanao.

To support the transition to electrified transport, ACMobility has launched the ‘Drive Electric. EV Safety Program.’ This five-module curriculum, developed in collaboration with the Department of Energy and the Bureau of Fire Protection, is designed to educate drivers on EV ownership, charging best practices, and emergency protocols. The program will be rolled out to corporations, fleet operators, and the general public.

Despite the expansion, ACMobility noted challenges in infrastructure rollout, specifically citing delays in securing permits due to varying requirements across different local government units. The company is working with the Department of Energy to streamline these processes.
