AC3 project develops European cloud-edge computing continuum

The European AC3 project has completed three and a half years of research, successfully developing an intelligent platform to manage distributed computing resources across the cloud and edge continuum. Funded by the European Commission through the Horizon Europe program with a contribution of 5.975 million euros, the project concluded on June 30, 2026.

Real-world testing demonstrated the ability of artificial intelligence to anticipate resource needs, optimize application deployment, and improve infrastructure efficiency. This architecture is designed to support applications requiring low latency and real-time processing, such as IoT systems, smart cities, connected industries, and autonomous vehicles. The project addresses the challenge of managing resources that are increasingly shifting from centralized data centers to locations closer to the data source.
