Academia Brasileira de Cinema sets schedule for 2027 Oscar selection

The Academia Brasileira de Cinema has announced the selection schedule for the film that will represent Brazil in the Best International Feature Film category at the 2027 Oscars.

The selection process involves a 15-member commission, consisting of 12 members elected by the Academy's partners and three appointed by the board. A shortlist of six films will be determined on September 9, with the final chosen representative to be announced on September 16.

To be eligible, productions must have had a commercial theatrical release between October 1, 2025, and September 30, 2026, and must have remained in theaters for at least seven consecutive days. Once selected, the film will be submitted to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Hollywood for consideration in the 99th Academy Awards, scheduled for March 14, 2027.
