Academia Brasileira de Letras launches three new literary awards with Montblanc partnership
To mark its 129th anniversary, the Academia Brasileira de Letras inaugurated three new literary prizes—Prêmio Guimarães Rosa (fiction), Prêmio Manuel Bandeira (poetry) and Prêmio Euclides da Cunha (humanities). The awards were presented on 23 July at the Petit Trianon in Rio de Janeiro, in a ceremony sponsored by Montblanc.
The inaugural winners were Eliana Alves Cruz for the novel Veridiana (fiction), Fabricio Oliveira for Noite Obscena (poetry) and Caetano Galindo for Na Ponta da Língua (humanities). Each received a cash award and a Montblanc Meisterstück pen plated in platinum. The event also honoured writer Cristovão Tezza with the prestigious Prêmio Machado de Assis for his body of work.
Montblanc Brazil CEO Juliana Pereira said the partnership supports the power of writing, adding that the brand’s century‑long commitment to the culture of the written word aligns with the Academy’s mission to promote Brazilian literature.
