Academia Ponto Verde targets 50,000 students with new recycling program
The Academia Ponto Verde is launching its 2026/2027 school year initiative with a renewed visual identity and the goal of engaging more than 50,000 students across Portugal, including the Azores and Madeira archipelagos. The project, promoted by Sociedade Ponto Verde, aims to increase student participation by approximately 32% compared to the previous year.
Under the new slogan, ‘Vamos aprender a separar juntos?’, the educational program focuses on students in the 2nd and 3rd cycles. The classroom sessions teach the ‘3 R’s’—Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle—and instruct students on the correct separation of packaging into green, yellow, and blue recycling bins. The program also tracks the journey of packaging through sorting and recycling centers.
To support these efforts, students are encouraged to use ELO, a digital recycling assistant available via the Ponto Verde website and application, to resolve questions regarding waste separation. Ricardo Sacoto Lagoa, Director of Marketing, Awareness, and Communication at Sociedade Ponto Verde, stated that the initiative seeks to turn knowledge into lasting habits, positioning young people as agents of change within their own families.
