Academic and cultural initiatives reported in Uruguay and Colombia
In Uruguay, students from the Social Communication Technician program at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Melo (UTU) have released a documentary titled ‘Migrantes de Hierro’. The approximately 40-minute film explores themes of displacement and the emotional experiences of migrants who have settled in the city of Melo. Students emphasized that the project was a collective effort intended to demonstrate that high-quality creative work can be produced outside of the capital.
In Colombia, the Universidad del Tolima is hosting the Humanities and Arts Faculty Week from September 21 to 25. The academic event includes conferences, research presentations, and cultural activities. A central theme of this year's programming is the environment, with sessions focusing on the rights of nature, environmental justice, ancestral knowledge, and the history of the Magdalena River.
