Academic and scientific events scheduled in Italy

The University of Verona will inaugurate its 44th academic year on November 5 at the Polo Zanotto. The event, themed ‘Cambiando verso’, focuses on the connection between scientific research and public decision-making. The ceremony will feature a keynote lecture by Francesca Dominici, a professor at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health, titled ‘Conoscere per decidere. Dall’evidenza scientifica alle decisioni pubbliche’. The program includes institutional interventions from Verona Mayor Damiano Tommasi and Veneto Region President Alberto Stefani.

In Varese, the ‘Feeling Science’ theatrical performance will take place on November 3 at the Salone Estense as part of the ‘Parola di Donna’ festival. The show features seven female researchers from the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Ispra. Rather than professional actors, these scientists use theater to discuss the relationship between science, responsibility, and contemporary society, exploring the personal and professional experiences of conducting research.
